Have you ever considered working in eating disorders services? This role demands that you use your interpersonal and therapeutic skills to facilitate the service user’s recovery. It’s a specialism that is both rewarding and challenging. Even if you have never worked within an eating disorders setting, if you are interested in developing yourself and working with a fantastic team, this could be the job for you.

The Hertfordshire Community Eating Disorders Service is looking for a Community Nurse Practitioner to join the county-wide team with the post holder’s team base in Welwyn Garden City but with responsibility for clinical work principally in the north of the county and at times in bases throughout Hertfordshire. You will be a part of a successful service which prides itself in working with people with eating disorders in the community, whenever possible avoiding inpatient admission.

We are seeking an Community Nurse Practitioner with a qualification in nursing, ideally mental health or with significant mental health experience. Experience of working with people with eating disorders is desirable
but your personality and ability to use your clinical skills proactively is far more important. Over time we expect the post holder to be able to offer specialist assessment and treatment interventions to our clients with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and atypical presentations and their families. The team is multidisciplinary and values this variety and wealth of experience and approach. The post holder will provide a range of psychological and psycho-social interventions specializing in CBT-E, SSCM and MANTRA (which you will learn or be trained in)
and will need to closely monitor physical health as well. You will be expected to use other approaches learnt in your core training, provide outreach work, psychoeducation and physical monitoring of service users. There will also be a requirement to lead or assist in the delivery of groups.

This post is full time (37.5 hours per week) and is a permanent contract.
