We provide mental health and social care services - including Adults of Working Age, Older Adults, Children and Adolescents and Specialist Learning Disabilities services.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Physician Associate to join our General Adult Team based in Watford, Colne House  to play a key role in the management of patients and to support the effective functioning of the community team and contribute to wider service developments. The post holder will be accountable for ensuring that high quality patient care is delivered at all times.

The Physician Associate will be supervised by a designated consultant with regular meetings to support on-going development within the role. The Physician Associate will attend regular CPD sessions to support on-going development.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • PG Diploma in Physician Associate Studies or equivalent
  • BA/BS Degree in relevant subject
  • Membership of UKAPA

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Sound IT knowledge including internet, Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels both inside and outside the organisation
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of patients
  • Ability to work under pressure
Desirable criteria
  • An understanding of the current NHS environment, particularly in relation to reforms, legislation and issues

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a Mental Health and Learning Disabilities setting
Desirable criteria
  • An awareness of current developments and initiatives in mental healthcare


Essential criteria
  • Car driver, and ability to travel county wide (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving)
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and quality improvement
