An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse to join our Mental Health Rehabilitation and Recovery  Inpatient Service in Hertfordshire UK,  based at the Beacon Hertfordshire Partnership NHS University Foundation Trust.

This opportunity is open for a Registered Mental Health  or Learning Disability Nurse with a minimum of  1 year experience and must have completed the Preceptorship program.  

The Trust Rehabilitation Service is underpinned by a bio-psychosocial model. The delivery of the Service is recovery orientated, utilising a strengths-based approach to care planning. Social inclusion is fully promoted in the Rehabilitation Service. The Rehabilitation Service unit environments aim to be safe and homely, supporting community-based rehabilitation interventions and positive risk taking.


The Rehabilitation Service is staffed with a multi-disciplinary team and delivers interventions including the following:

  • Medication – seeking the optimised medication regime
  • Psychosocial Interventions – psychological therapies, self-management strategies, specific interventions such as provision for co-morbid substance misuse
  • Healthy Living – support to achieve and sustain health living lifestyles with access to exercise, smoking cessation and dietary advice
  • Self-care – supporting service user to gain or re-gain confidence to manage their personal care and maintenance of a clean living environment
  • Complex Life Skills – All rehabilitation staff are involved in the delivery of interventions to meet service user identified needs in areas such as budgeting, shopping, access to education, work and social interests. Occupational Therapy is a key intervention to identify specific needs in these areas.
  • Financial Control- money management, budgeting, debt repayment, tenancy management

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Staff Nurse to join our friendly team. The nurse will have at least one year experience as a named nurse and completed the preceptorship program. 

As a Staff Nurse you will be responsible for assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation of care for the service user group in conjunction with other staff.

The post holder will act as a Named Nurse to a number of service users and support the day-to-day running of the clinical area by assisting the Charge Nurse and Team Leader in maintaining effective team working processes.

Registered Nurses must be able to exercise a considerable degree of initiative, possess mature judgment and maintain a calm, friendly and efficient manner when interacting with service users, their relatives, colleagues and visitors. They must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, manage competing demands and organise their own work in meeting deadlines in order for the smooth running of the ward area and be prepared to model and promote the Trust Values.

Annual leave
You get 27 days on starting, 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years service (excludes bank holidays).
If you already have NHS service then we will honour this in terms of your annual leave entitlement.
