2x Band 8a  12 month fixed term posts.

We are looking to recruit two band 8a Psychologists for a newly created team, working across forensic and adult mental health services to improve the risk assessment and management for the minority of service users who pose a risk to others. The team is funded for a one year pilot but an application will be made to Commissioners during the year for ongoing funding so there is potential for the posts to be extended.

The purpose of the posts is to support colleagues working within Adult Mental Health Services across Hertfordshire to develop their understanding and skills in identifying, assessing and managing risk to others posed by some service users, who do not reach the threshold for Forensic Services. This will involve attending AMH team meetings to facilitate decision making, providing training for AMH staff about assessing and working with risk, providing consultation to staff carrying out Enhanced Risk Assessments (ERAs) and as part of this process formulating risk and developing management plans with staff.

The posts will be located within a new Adult Mental Health Forensic Psychology Service, which also covers the Community Forensic Team in Hertfordshire and Beech Low Secure Unit. The postholders will work flexibly across these services, alongside their work in the ERA Team.

This post could also be offered as a Band 7/8a development post.  The post holder will be able to progress from Band 7 to Band 8a once they demonstrate that they meet the competencies specified for a Band 8a Clinical/Forensic Psychologist.
