Clinical Psychologist, Band 7, Forest House Adolescent Unit (Inpatient)

Full Time Position, Hertfordshire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist who is interested in working in an adolescent inpatient setting.

Forest House Adolescent Unit is a specialist in-patient unit for 12-18 year olds. It has a diverse multi-disciplinary team supporting young people with a wide range of complex psychological and psychiatric presentations along with their families/carers.  We provide a daily therapeutic programme alongside specialist nursing and medical care.

Forest House is situated in Radlett, 5 miles outside the historic city of St Albans and less than 10 miles from London.

You will be a key member of the therapy team as well as contributing to the overall work of the multi-disciplinary team on the unit. You would be involved in assessment, therapeutic intervention (individual, group and family) and be expected to provide direct and indirect psychological consultation to other team members.  You would work alongside the senior Clinical Psychologist on the Unit and receive supervision from them.

While the work is inpatient focused you would develop connections with the CAMHS outpatient psychologists through regular HPFT Psychology meetings. We are closely linked to the University of Hertfordshire and there are opportunities to become involved with the DClinPsych training programme.  We are also part of FICAPS (Forum for Inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychology Services) which hold meetings at the BPS and have an annual conference at which there are opportunities to present interesting work.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated clinical psychologist who thrives in a multi-disciplinary environment and is particularly is interested in working with adolescents. Experience of working in an inpatient setting would be an advantage and CAMHS experience is essential.
