Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry
Acute Assessment Unit Swift Ward 4PAs
The post holder will be one of 2 WTE consultant psychiatrists providing medical leadership to the 18 bed Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) on Swift Ward at Kingfisher Court. The Acute Assessment Unit provides a robust multidisciplinary assessment of all new admissions to HPFT (excluding those subject to Section 3 MHA) within 24 hours of admission, seven days of the week. The aim is to discharge patients who can be managed safely in the Community within 7 days; however patients can undergo an intensive period of assessment and/or treatment for up to 10 days before transfer to another ward for a longer period of treatment if necessary. The aim of the AAU is to facilitate early discharge where appropriate. There is daily Crisis Team (CATT) CPN input to support the process.
Applicants must be fully registered medical practitioners and on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining their CCT, be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983, and have Approved Clinician status.
Occupational Health & Disclosure & Baring Service Checks: The appointment will be subject to clearance from the Occupational Health Department and the DBS.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
