We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, Registered Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist to join our busy adult community mental health team based in Borehamwood as a dedicated Duty Worker.

The service delivers care and support to a range of people of working age who are experiencing mental ill health problems that are impacting on their lives and daily functioning, during the core operational hours of the service, currently Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. We are seeking to find someone who is looking to work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to provide for days that are currently not covered.

The post holder is responsible for dealing with inquiries from current Service Users and other stake holders where the person does not have a named worker. The post also included providing help and support in crisis to people who present to the service who are either known to us, have past history with us or are not previously known by us and in liaison with other services and GP’s as necessary. On occasions the duty Worker undertakes assessments of mental health and social functioning of people who it is considered need a more timely assessment than the scheduling allows, this is both office based and outside visits when necessary.

The Post is fast passed and has a high degree of autonomy within it, allowing the worker to plan and arrange their own work load, but you are always supported by a Duty Manager, who is one of the Teams Leadership Team, with readily available access to Senior Medical Staff when needed. You’ll be part of a motivated and skilled workforce, with access to on-going professional 1:1 and peer led supervision and training. Hertfordshire as a County has all the benefits of been near to London, with a good infrastructure and easy access to the Capital by train, bus and road routes. We have a wide range of recreational and shopping facilities within the county. Borehamwood is located next to the London border; there is a range of local and national chain stores within the town with Banks and other shops locally to the office.

We will offer you a bespoke professional development plan with opportunities to specialise in the assessment and treatment and management of people experiencing serious mental ill health problems

Car driver (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving) is essential as some home visits are required.

The post is a part time post with us looking to fulfill a post covering 9-5 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, excluding public holidays.
